Whistler Live! Programming Update
Showcasing regional creative talent for the world to see
Whistler Live! ArtWalk – based on the objectives of the Whistler Arts Council’s summer program – will showcase works by local artists and artisans for Games-time visitors to discover and purchase during the 2010 Winter Games. Whistler Live! ArtWalk brings the works of local artists to Whistler Village, the Upper Village and Creekside.
Over 60 artists were juried into the community exhibition with pieces that will be seen throughout 44 host galleries. The variety in medium and genre is as diverse as the people Whistler will host this winter. The interpretation of our local landscapes and animals adorn the walls of shops and cafes. Edgy ceramics are displayed in hotel lobbies and office spaces. Abstract and contemporary pieces add colour and intrigue to restaurants and spas. The Whistler Arts Council is encouraging visitors to choose a piece of local art to truly bring home an authentic piece of Whistler!
Detailed maps outlining participating venues and artists will be available at the Visitor Information Centre and Whistler hotels as of February 1, 2010.

Présenter des artistes créatifs régionaux au monde
Fondé sur le programme d’été du Whistler Arts Council (WAC), Whistler Live! ArtWalk présentera des œuvres d’artistes et d’artisans régionaux que les visiteurs nationaux et internationaux pourront admirer et acheter pendant les Jeux d’hiver de 2010. Whistler Live! ArtWalk présentera les œuvres d’artistes régionaux dans Whistler Village, Upper Village et Creekside pendant les Jeux d’hiver de 2010.
On a sélectionné plus de 60 artistes pour l’exposition communautaire qui présentera des œuvres dans 44 galeries hôtes. Les techniques et genres sont aussi diversifiés que les personnes que l’on accueillera à Whistler. L’interprétation des paysages et des animaux locaux ornera les murs dans les boutiques et les cafés. On exposera des céramiques avant-gardistes dans les halls des hôtels et des bureaux. Les œuvres abstraites et contemporaines ajoutent de la couleur et de l’intrigue aux restaurants et aux spas. Le WAC encourage les visiteurs à acheter une œuvre d’art local afin de vraiment rapporter un morceau de Whistler chez eux!
Des cartes détaillées résumant les sites et les artistes participants seront disponibles au Centre d’information des visiteurs et aux hôtels de Whistler à compter du 1er février 2010.
